Points of interest:
San Antonio remains a history mecca for historical buffs. Starting with the
Alamo that is permanently etched in the annals of history. Where 189 defenders held the old mission against some 4,000 Mexican troops for 13 days. The cry "Remember the Alamo" became the rallying point of the Texan revolution against Mexico. Located in the heart of downtown, today The Alamo is a shrine and museum.

A tour of downtown San Antonio will uncover centuries of history, including:
La Villita the reconstruction of a 250-year-old Spanish-speaking settlement;
the Spanish Governor's Palace which was the seat of government when San Antonio was the capital of the Spanish Province of Texas;
San Fernando Cathedral, whose construction was started in 1731 by Canary Islanders
Market Square, the largest Mexican marketplace outside of Mexico

The Hemisfair Plaza, site of the 1968 world's fair, contains the Institute of Texan Cultures and the 750-ft (229-m) Tower of the Americas

The Southwest Research Institute is notable for its research into the technical problems of the region.
The city has artists' colonies, an art institute and numerous museums.

San Antonio is located in Texas tɛksəs/, the largest state in the coterminous United States. It is located in the South Central part of the country and is bounded by Oklahoma; Arkansas (NE); Louisiana(E); the Gulf of Mexico (SE); Mexico, across the Rio Grande River (SW); and New Mexico (W).

San Antonio was named for the Italian Saint Anthony of Padua, whose feast day it was (June 13) when a Spanish expedition stopped in the area in 1691. The city has a strong military presence—it is home to Fort Sam Houston, Lackland Air Force Base, Randolph Air Force Base, and Brooks City-Base, with Camp Bullis and Camp Stanley right outside the city. San Antonio is home to the South Texas Medical Center, the largest and only medical research and care provider in the South Texas region.
