Military Bases

One of the most beautiful and attraction-laden city in the country is home to four premier military installations...

Brooks City-Base...
Fort Sam Houston...
Lackland Air Force Base
Randolph Air Force Base

The different Bases in San Antonio reflect the strong military presents to the community. Throughout the history of the city the military has played a very vital roll from past centuries... to the present. It boasts one of America's largest active duty and retired military populations.

It's little wonder that so many military families covet an assignment to one of San Antonio's premier military installations. Each installation integrates history with a modern-day mission that signifies today's military.

Camp Stanley, originally Camp Funston, was a subpost of the San Antonio Arsenal and operated as an ammunition storage depot. It was named Camp Stanley on October 2, 1917, for Brig. Gen. David Sloane Stanley and designated at first as an infantry cantonment. It was located at Leon Springs Military Reservation, twenty miles northwest of San Antonio.

Camp Bullis, a United States Army camp, occupies 12,000 acres on Interstate Highway 10 and Harry Wurzbach Road seventeen miles northwest of San Antonio in Bexar County.

Camp Bullis and Camp Stanley make up the Leon Springs Military Reservation.
